challenge
Subscure set out to address the frustrations consumers face with subscription-based services—unwanted charges, difficult cancellations, and a lack of control. Surveys and user interviews reinforced this problem, revealing that users often felt “trapped” when signing up for subscriptions, anticipating unwanted charges or complicated cancellation processes. The challenge was to design a seamless and intuitive mobile wallet that empowers users to cancel or halt subscription payments instantly—without the hassle of contacting banks or service providers.
As the sole designer for this end-to-end bootcamp project, I translated these insights into actionable design decisions, simplifying complex actions like halting recurring charges and creating single-use cards. By focusing on user needs and leveraging research findings, I crafted Subscure as a straightforward, empowering solution that puts control firmly back in the hands of its users.

Process Overview
To address user frustrations with subscription management, I followed a comprehensive design process rooted in research and iteration:
Research
Surveys (22 participants) and interviews (5 users) revealed key pain points: 75% had at least one active subscription, 58% experienced unwanted charges, and all participants felt "trapped" by difficult cancellation processes. Competitor analysis positioned Subscure as a unique solution emphasizing simplicity and user autonomy.Define
Insights from affinity mapping and personas highlighted user goals: a quick, intuitive way to cancel subscriptions and manage payments. This clarity informed the user journey, emphasizing minimal clicks and transparent workflows.Ideate
Initial sketches prioritized the two main red routes—adding a card and canceling subscriptions—focusing on simplicity and familiarity. Early concepts tested ways to streamline these actions while reducing friction points.Design
Low-fidelity wireframes in Figma translated sketches into actionable prototypes. Iterations refined the interface for clarity and alignment with user needs, ensuring an intuitive experience at every touchpoint.Test
Usability testing (8 participants across two rounds) uncovered areas for improvement, such as enhancing the visibility of the "Cancel Card" button. Changes like adopting a red button improved task completion and usability, validating the final design.
This user-centered approach ensured Subscure delivered an intuitive, empowering solution that addressed real user frustrations with subscription-based services.
Outcome
This project deepened my understanding of UX/UI design, from concept to prototype. Through usability testing, I validated design decisions and identified areas for improvement. The app provides a seamless experience for canceling subscriptions and presents opportunities for future enhancements like advanced search, dashboards, and predictive insights. Moving forward, I’ll continue to prioritize user feedback, iterative design, and user-centered solutions to meet evolving needs.
